If you already receive Ontario Works and an expected payment has not arrived, check the official payment schedule, then your own case information and account activity. A date on the Ontario Works calendar tells you when payments are scheduled; it does not confirm that a payment was issued for your case or received by your bank. If you still cannot account for it, contact your local Ontario Works office and ask about this payment specifically.

Start with the schedule, then check what you received

Ontario Works publishes its income support payment dates on the provincial program page. It says payments are issued monthly for the beginning of the next month. Use the live table for the benefit month you mean, rather than a date copied into a message or an older article. A published date is a useful starting point, but it does not describe your individual case.

Next, look at the account or payment method where you normally receive Ontario Works. Check the relevant transaction history, including the amount and date, and note what you can actually see. If a payment appears but the amount is different from what you expected, that is also a question for your office. Avoid assuming why a payment is absent or different from the schedule alone.

MyBenefits is Ontario’s route to get information about an Ontario Works case and send messages or documents. If you use it, check the information available for your case and any messages relevant to the payment. If the information is unclear or you cannot sign in, contact your local office.

Three checks for a missing Ontario Works payment: the public schedule, personal case information, and the usual payment method, followed by a question to the local office.
The public schedule, your case information and what you actually received answer different questions. Ask your local Ontario Works office about your own payment.

Ask your local office about this payment

Use Ontario’s social assistance office locator to find the office serving your address or postal code and its contact information. Tell the office which benefit month you mean, the scheduled date you checked, what your own account shows, and whether you found any relevant case message. Ask whether a payment was issued for your case, and what you should do next. Your office can check your Ontario Works case record; a general calendar or bank screen cannot settle it.

A short message or call could be: “I receive Ontario Works and am checking the payment for [benefit month]. The Ontario Works page lists [scheduled date]. I have checked [my usual account/payment method] and do not see the payment as of [date and time]. Can you check whether it was issued for my case and tell me the next step?” Keep account numbers and other private details out of an ordinary email or message unless you are using an official secure route and the office asks for them.

If your office cannot confirm that a payment was issued, ask what information or action it needs from you and when to follow up. If it confirms that one was issued, ask for the payment date, method, destination, and any reference it can provide. For a direct deposit, you can then ask your bank to help check the receiving account using those confirmed details. Bring cheque or payment-card questions back to your Ontario Works office for the next step. These questions help identify where to ask next; they do not establish why a payment is missing or when it will arrive.

If a bill is due before you have an answer, contact the biller about the timing and ask what options are available for that bill. Our guide to asking to change a bill due date can help you prepare that conversation. An Ontario Works payment is separate from the Ontario Trillium Benefit; if the missing deposit is that benefit, use our Ontario Trillium payment check guide instead.

Waiting on a payment can create a short-term cash-flow gap. Romii is being developed in Ontario to help people understand choices around small, temporary gaps. It is not currently accepting applications or granting approvals, and receiving Ontario Works does not establish eligibility. You can join the Romii waitlist for updates when it becomes available.
